How it works
From a requirement to a supplier you can work with
A sourcing engagement runs through seven stages. Not every requirement needs all of them — a benchmark quotation may stop at stage three, while a bespoke furniture package will use every one.
The sequence
The seven stages
- 1
1.Send your requirement
A BOQ, drawing, specification, reference image, photograph or physical sample — with quantity, target price and delivery destination where you have them.
- 2
2.Supplier search
We identify Indian manufacturers whose category, capability and order size match the requirement, and screen them before approaching you with names.
- 3
3.Compare options
Quotations, specifications, MOQs, lead times and commercial terms collected and set out side by side, with the gaps chased down rather than left blank.
- 4
4.Sample and validate
Samples, prototypes or finish approvals coordinated where the product needs them, with feedback and revisions managed through to approval.
- 5
5.Select a supplier
You review the shortlist and choose. We give you our reading of each option, including the trade-offs, but the appointment is yours to make.
- 6
6.Production coordination
We keep contact with the manufacturer through production, follow up on milestones and report progress against the agreed schedule.
- 7
7.Export
Depending on how the transaction is structured, the appointed Indian manufacturer or exporter ships directly to you, and we assist with the coordination around it.
What to send
Whatever you already have is usually enough
- A BOQ or specification
- Even a partial one. Line items, materials, dimensions and finishes are what a manufacturer needs to quote against.
- Drawings or CAD files
- For joinery, furniture and hardware, a drawing usually replaces several rounds of description.
- A reference product or photograph
- If you are matching something you already buy, an image and the current specification is enough to begin.
- Quantity and target price
- These decide which manufacturers are worth approaching. A range is fine; no figure at all narrows what we can filter.
- Destination and timeline
- Port or city and the date you need delivery by. Both affect which suppliers can realistically take the order.
What comes back
And what you can expect from us
- A first read within a working day
- Whether the requirement is one we can research well, what is unclear in the specification, and what we would need before approaching suppliers.
- A screened shortlist
- Manufacturers matched to the category, capability and order size — with the reasoning, not just names.
- Comparable quotations
- Price, specification, MOQ, lead time and commercial terms set out side by side, with inclusions and exclusions made explicit.
- Samples where they matter
- Coordinated with your feedback relayed in the terms a factory floor works in, through as many revisions as the piece needs.
Terms of engagement
Confidentiality, costs and structure
Your documents stay confidential. BOQs, drawings and specifications are shared with suppliers only to the extent needed to obtain a quotation, and we are glad to sign an NDA before you send anything.
Commercial arrangements are agreed in advance. SilverTrail Global may earn a sourcing or service fee depending on the engagement. Whatever the arrangement, it is set out and agreed in writing before work begins — never discovered later in a price.
The supply contract is yours to make. Depending on the structure, the purchase and export contract may sit directly between you and the Indian manufacturer. We support that relationship rather than obscure it.
Questions buyers ask first
The awkward ones, answered
- How does SilverTrail Global get paid?
- By a sourcing or service fee, agreed with you in writing before work starts. The arrangement varies by engagement — a one-off supplier search is priced differently from ongoing procurement support — and it is settled up front rather than buried inside a supplier's price.
- Will you sign an NDA before I send a BOQ?
- Yes. Say so in your first message and we will return a signed NDA, usually the same day. Documents are shared with suppliers only to the extent a quotation requires, and your identity is not disclosed to suppliers without your agreement.
- What happens if the supplier underperforms?
- Identifying a supplier is not a guarantee of that supplier's performance, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we do is reduce the risk before the order — capability review, verification, samples, and independent inspection where the value justifies it — and stay involved during production so problems surface early rather than at the port.
- Do you manufacture or export the goods yourself?
- No. We are a sourcing and procurement services business. Depending on how the transaction is structured, the appointed Indian manufacturer or exporter usually ships directly to you, and the supply contract sits between you and them.
- How new is the business?
- SilverTrail Global is a recently established independent sourcing business, registered in India as a micro enterprise under Udyam/MSME. We would rather say that plainly than imply a scale we do not have. What you get is direct access to the person doing the work, and a first requirement is the fair way to judge whether that is useful.
- Can you handle a requirement outside your listed categories?
- Often, yes — the model is specification-led rather than catalogue-led. Send it and we will tell you whether it is a category we can research well. If India is not a sensible market for that product, we will say so rather than take the enquiry anyway.
- What does an enquiry cost me?
- Nothing to ask. An initial assessment of whether suitable Indian suppliers are likely to exist for your requirement carries no charge or obligation.
Start with one requirement
The fastest way to judge whether this is useful is to send a single live requirement and see what comes back.
